Lasko Whirlwind Heat CS12350 13.5-inch Ceramic Heater review

A Black tabletop ceramic fan heater with three heat settings, Auto Eco thermostat cycling, a remote, a 12-hour off countdown and separately selectable left-right and up-down movement. This assessment covers the Black CS12350 only; the White CS12380 is a distinct native SKU whose exact functional/manual bridge remains open.

A useful fit for

A supervised, dry residential tabletop position where three manually selectable heat stages, Auto Eco behavior, a remote and an automatic off countdown matter. The Black CS12350 offers separately controlled 60° left-right and up-down movement, but the exact manual clearance zone is much larger than the heater body. The 1,500 W maximum is the listed electrical cap; the maker’s 300-sq-ft coverage statement is not a room-performance test.

The main tradeoff

This is the Black CS12350 configuration only. The shared native record also lists White CS12380, but its exact manufacturer manual/function bridge is not closed; do not assume the two finishes are interchangeable. For CS12350, three heat levels have no individually published wattage, no fan-only mode is listed, and automatic temperature cycling is not a calibration specification. It has a 12-hour timer, remote and 60° movement on both axes but no app or later start. Its safety controls do not override the manual: attended residential indoor use, 3 ft front and 1 ft side/rear clearance, direct wall outlet without extension devices or a shared circuit, and no bathroom, laundry, wet/damp or outdoor operation. Weight remains uncertain because page and native variant values conflict.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need three heat choices with a thermostat and an included remote?

The exact Black CS12350 manual identifies H1 Low, H2 Medium and H3 High, separate Auto Eco thermostat controls and a remote. Stage wattages are not mapped, and the manual lists no separate fan-only mode.

Must the outlet move on both documented axes, with at least a 60-degree horizontal sweep?

The current CS12350 page lists 60 degrees horizontally and vertically; its exact manual provides separate swing and tilt buttons and an orbital combination. A stricter 70-degree numeric minimum is not met.

Would the 12-hour auto-off countdown and remote match your supervised session?

The exact instructions document an off countdown up to twelve hours and an included CR2025 remote. A countdown does not authorize unattended operation, and a 13-hour minimum exceeds the documented timer.

The Black Lasko Whirlwind Heat CS12350 is a compact 13.5-inch ceramic heater with three heat stages, a thermostat, a remote and independent left-right and up-down movement. Its 12-hour countdown and broad adjustment options are useful only when its placement and supervised-use rules fit your room; this is not a bathroom or unattended heater.

A tabletop form with more directional control

Lasko lists this CS12350 Black configuration at up to 1,500 watts and 120 volts, with an advertised coverage area up to 300 square feet. That square-foot number is a manufacturer claim, not a controlled result or a promise that one small heater can hold a target temperature in every room. The listed body is 13.49 inches high, about 9.5 inches wide and 10.52 inches deep. Lasko gives 4.8 pounds, while its native variant record carries a raw weight value of 5,443 without a reported unit; the values do not reconcile, so do not rely on weight if lifting is your deciding fit check. The integrated carry handle and tabletop form are documented, but the heater still needs a stable, level surface and clear space around it.

The useful distinction from a basic oscillating tabletop heater is how the outlet can move. The product page lists 60-degree horizontal and vertical movement, while the CS12350 manual has separate swing and tilt controls and explains that pressing both starts orbital movement. You can spread airflow across a wider zone or move it up and down instead of pointing a fixed outlet at one spot. The stated 60-degree sweep describes the movement feature; it does not establish that every part of a room heats evenly. If horizontal travel is an essential threshold, the documented 60 degrees is a concrete point of comparison; a stricter requirement will not fit.

Three heat stages, thermostat cycling and a timer

The manual labels its heat settings H1 (Low), H2 (Medium) and H3 (High), but does not map each stage to an exact wattage. These are heat settings, not a separately documented fan-only mode. The adjustable Auto Eco thermostat uses more than a simple fixed setting: below the target it runs High, at the target it steps down to Low, and above the target it turns the element off while the fan continues briefly. The display reports room temperature rather than the temperature of the heated outlet air. Treat that as a documented control routine, not a calibrated thermostat specification.

The included remote can change heat, timer and movement without reaching the panel; it also includes a display-snooze button. A CR2025 coin cell is included. The timer reaches 12 hours, with half-hour steps to two hours and then hourly steps to twelve. That is an automatic off countdown, not an instruction to leave a heater operating while away or asleep: the CS12350 manual says not to leave it running unattended. Lasko also lists a three-year limited warranty for the original purchaser, but it does not list phone-app control. The safety features documented for this exact model include a tip-over switch and thermal-overload protection; if the latter trips, the instructions call for unplugging it, allowing ten minutes to cool and resetting it.

Clearances and outlet rules are the first fit test

Put the heater on a stable, level surface. Keep combustible items at least three feet from the front and one foot from each side and the rear. The manual calls for plugging directly into a 120-volt wall outlet, never an extension cord, power strip, surge protector, adapter or cord reel; it also warns against sharing that outlet or circuit with another device. Keep the cord clear of foot traffic. These requirements can make a tabletop placement unsuitable even when the appliance itself fits the furniture.

The manual restricts CS12350 to residential use and excludes bathrooms, laundry areas, damp or wet locations, and outdoors. Never locate it where it could fall into water. Those limits remain in force even though the heater has tip-over and overheat protection, a timer, thermostat and remote. A control feature is not an exception to the operating instructions. If you need an expressly bathroom-approved or approved unattended model, look for a different exact heater and manual rather than inferring permission from its safety switches.

Who should consider the Black CS12350?

This model is worth comparing when you want three selectable heat stages, an adjustable thermostat, a 12-hour off countdown, a remote and both horizontal and vertical movement in a compact tabletop heater. It suits a supervised, dry-room routine with a compliant outlet and enough measured clearance. The benefits are real choice and movement, not proof of quieter operation, lower energy use or room-wide heating. The maker’s page contains zero-decibel entries; that is not a credible noise measurement, so no quietness conclusion belongs here.

Lasko also lists a White Whirlwind Heat as SKU CS12380 in the same product family. This assessment’s placement and control details refer to the Black CS12350 instructions, which name CS12350 specifically; do not transfer those instructions to a CS12380 unit unless its own instructions confirm the same setup.

For a smaller body and simpler two-stage operation with an eight-hour timer, compare the Ready Heat CT14401; its sweep axis is not published, so it does not meet a directional movement requirement on the available documentation. If you do not need movement, thermostat programming or remote operation, compare a simpler personal model such as the MyHeat-GO CD12100, which has two heat stages and generic oscillation but no countdown or remote. Each model has its own electrical and clearance requirements; do not transfer one heater’s manual to another.

Before choosing, check the exact model number on the product and follow the linked Lasko product page and New 05/24 CS12350 instructions. Unplug the heater before moving or cleaning it; the manual says to vacuum the intake grilles every two weeks and not to take the appliance apart or immerse it.
