Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the Lasko 5775 switch off after a session without needing a scheduled start?
Yes. Its exact manual describes a one-to-seven-hour countdown that turns a running heater off. It does not document a later start.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the 5775 fit under a 23-inch body-height cap?
The current product page lists a 22.5-inch body. That measurement does not reduce the manual’s three-foot front and one-foot side/rear combustible clearances.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact 5775 manual permit bathroom use?
No. It excludes bathrooms and other wet or damp locations as well as laundry areas. An ordinary indoor listing is not bathroom permission.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the Lasko 5775 document a 70-degree oscillation arc?
No numeric sweep angle is given in the inspected model page or manual. It oscillates side to side, but an exact-angle requirement should not pass on that wording alone.
Explore this need in the finder →The Lasko 5775 is a White, floor-standing ceramic tower with a fan, two heat settings, side-to-side oscillation, an adjustable thermostat and an automatic shutoff countdown. Lasko’s current U.S. page identifies the model as 5775 and lists one White variant with SKU 5775. Its product title rounds the size to 23 inches, while the same page’s measurement field gives a 22.5-inch body height. This assessment uses the listed dimensions and the model-specific Rev. C 5/13 manual, not a hands-on test.
Two heat settings, with a High-only thermostat
The heater offers High and Low. Its manual says the initial setting is High at 1,500 watts; the current specification page gives an overall output range of 900 to 1,500 watts but does not assign a wattage to Low. That is useful context if you need a lower level, but do not treat an exact low-step draw as confirmed. The temperature control is not available across both levels: the manual says its automatic temperature function operates only on High. Max runs continuously unless a separate timer is set. If you want the thermostat to cycle the heater while it is on Low, this is not a documented match.
The product page states coverage up to 150 square feet. That is Lasko’s stated maximum, not a measured guarantee that the room will heat evenly or reach a particular temperature. Drafts, insulation, room volume, ceiling height and the existing heating system all affect the result. No independent warm-up, noise or energy-use measurements are available in this assessment.
Oscillation moves the outlet; the timer only counts down
You can switch on back-and-forth oscillation or leave the heater aimed in one position. The inspected manual and product page do not give a sweep angle, so a numeric 70- or 90-degree requirement should not count this model as a confirmed match. In automatic temperature control, the manual says oscillation stops when the selected temperature is reached and resumes when the heater starts heating again. That is a small but practical behavior difference from continuous motion.
The timer is an auto-off countdown from one to seven hours. It can be used with either speed or temperature setting, and the heater turns off when the chosen time expires. It is not a scheduled start: the manual describes turning the appliance back on with the Power button, not a later start after it has remained off. There is no separate fan-only mode documented. The top controls are on the unit; Lasko’s current product listing says no remote is included and lists no app compatibility. Choose another model if a remote or phone control is essential.
Measure the operating space, not just the tower
The current page lists a 22.5-inch height, 7.13-inch width, 7.25-inch depth and 6.08-pound weight. It comes assembled with a carry handle, but it still needs an open location: the manual calls for a firm, level surface and at least three feet in front and one foot at the sides and rear from combustible materials. Those are much larger distances than the heater’s footprint. A narrow gap beside a desk, curtain or bed therefore is not a suitable shortcut.
Use a direct 120-volt wall receptacle. Lasko warns against extension cords, power strips, multi-outlet adapters and other cord-connected devices, and advises checking that the plug fits firmly and does not overheat. Keep the cord out of rugs and foot traffic. The manual rules out outdoor, bathroom, laundry, wet and damp locations and says not to leave the heater operating unattended. Although the product page describes a cool-touch housing, the manual warns that the grille is hot during operation; keep children and combustible items away.
Care, protection and fit
The manual documents a thermal-overload protector. If it shuts off from overheating, Lasko’s reset procedure is to unplug the heater, wait ten minutes for it to cool and then reconnect it to a suitable 120-volt outlet. Repeated cutouts call for checking placement and airflow, not defeating the protection. For routine care, unplug first, vacuum the intake grilles every two weeks and use a soft brush for remaining dust; do not take the unit apart. The manual also cautions that its feet can leave marks on some furniture or wood floors, so keep it on an appropriate floor-safe surface.
This is a reasonable candidate for a dry indoor room where you want a compact tower, basic two-level heat, an off timer and optional sweeping airflow, and where its large clearances are possible. It is a poor fit if bathroom approval, unattended operation, exact swing-angle coverage, fan-only airflow, remote access or a later start is necessary. The three-year limited warranty and residential supplemental-heat purpose are listed by Lasko; neither turns the 150-square-foot claim into an independent capacity test.
How it differs from the Lasko 5165
The 5775 and 5165 are both two-setting ceramic towers whose manual documents High at 1,500 watts, High-only automatic temperature control and unspecified oscillation angles. The 5775’s published body is slightly shorter and narrower across its listed width and depth, but its footprint is still no substitute for the full clear zone. Its clearest control distinction is that it has no remote and a one-to-seven-hour countdown. The current 5165 listing includes a remote and its manual provides a one-to-eight-hour countdown. Neither manual documents a scheduled start or a separate fan-only setting. Compare the exact model label and manual before applying those differences: a similar tower appearance does not make safety instructions interchangeable.
