A useful fit for

A good match for a dry indoor room where you want a short floor-standing ceramic tower, a physical remote, horizontal movement and a shutoff timer for up to 12 hours. Its body is 15.56 inches high, but the required open clearance is much larger.

The main tradeoff

Neither exact manual gives a sweep angle, low-heat wattage or numeric thermostat range. The timer turns off a heater already running and cannot start it later; there is no app or fan-only mode. Bathroom, laundry, wet/damp, outdoor and unattended use are prohibited. The CPSC model query returned a provider error, so recall status remains unknown rather than being reported as a clear result.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Will the body fit a 16-inch limit, and would it pass a strict 15-inch cap?

The current page lists a 15.56-inch body height. The Black and White model numbers have separate instructions, and either finish passes a 16-inch cap but not a strict 15-inch cap. Clearance space is separate.

Can I require horizontal movement without requiring an unlisted numeric angle?

Both exact model manuals document base oscillation from side to side. They do not give an angle, so the heater passes a horizontal-motion need but not a specific minimum sweep.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the included remote meet a need for hands-off control, and is an app available?

The Black and White versions include the same type of physical remote, with one CR2025 cell. No app control is documented, so the remote does not meet an app requirement.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does its 12-hour timer turn on later or shut off an already-running heater?

The exact manuals document an elapsed-time auto-off countdown only, up to 12 hours. They do not describe a scheduled later start.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does it have a separate fan-only mode for moving air without heat?

No separate fan-only mode is documented in the current listing or either exact model manual. Its internal fan runs to propel heat and for a short cooldown; that is not a selectable fan-only operating mode.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can it be used in a bathroom or left running while nobody is present?

No. Both exact manuals exclude bathrooms, laundry rooms, wet/damp and outdoor locations and say not to leave the heater operating unattended. Use only the documented dry indoor residential plan.

The Lasko Artisan 16-inch ceramic tower is a compact floor heater sold as two exact finish/model combinations: Black CX16550 and White CX16350. Both have a remote, horizontal base oscillation, two documented heat levels and a 12-hour shutoff timer. Choose it when you want those controls in a short tower; do not treat the 16-inch name or the maker’s broad room-language as proof of a particular heating result.

One product row, two model numbers and two manuals

Lasko’s current U.S. All Heaters listing groups Black CX16550 and White CX16350 under one product row. Its native variants and manufacturer images assign a separate model number, SKU, variant ID and image to each finish. The exact Black manual is labeled CX16550, New 04/24; the current product-page link opens the later Rev. A 03/26 manual specifically for White CX16350.

Both manuals describe High and Low heat, Auto Eco, a remote, base oscillation and a shutoff timer. Use the instructions for the model number on the product itself; the timer indicator color differs by manual revision. One manufacturer page paragraph says three heat settings, but its title, detailed two-speed field and both exact manuals say two. We use two documented heat modes and do not invent a third.

A short oscillating tower with no published sweep angle

The listed body is 15.56 inches high, 6.75 inches wide and 6.75 inches deep; Lasko lists weight as 5.1 pounds. That modest footprint can be easier to place than a taller tower, but it still needs a stable, level surface and an unobstructed intake and outlet. Lasko describes the heating element as ceramic with high-velocity forced airflow. Its base oscillates horizontally, helping move the outlet across a wider part of the room. Neither exact manual specifies a degree range, so a required 90°, 170° or 360° sweep is not confirmed. The heater does not document powered vertical movement or a hand-tilted outlet.

The remote switches power and heat, toggles oscillation, adjusts the timer and changes the Auto Eco target. Its included CR2025 coin cell powers a display-snooze button; that control is not a named Night Mode or proof of quiet operation. There is no phone app or documented fan-only mode.

What Auto Eco and the timer actually do

Auto Eco is a thermostat routine, not an extra heat level. The model manuals say the heater runs High while room temperature is below the setpoint, changes to Low once the setpoint is reached, continues Low until the room is more than about 2°F above the setting, then turns the heating element off. The fan continues for about 15 seconds after the element switches off. The display shows room temperature in Auto Eco; it is not measuring the warm outlet air. Lower-mode wattage and a numeric thermostat range are not listed, so we show the 1,500-watt maximum without assigning a watt figure to Low.

The timer is a running-time shutoff, not a delayed start. Both manuals allow up to 12 hours, with half-hour steps up to two hours and one-hour steps thereafter. The indicator color differs by manual revision, but the shutdown behavior is consistent. If your essential task is to preheat a room before you arrive, this control does not meet it. If you want the heater to turn itself off after you have started it while present, that is the documented use.

Placement rules are not optional because the body is small

For either model, the manual calls for a direct 120-volt wall receptacle and prohibits extension cords, power strips, multi-outlet adapters and similar cord-connected devices. Keep combustibles three feet in front and one foot from the sides and rear. Use it indoors on a stable, level surface; the instructions exclude bathrooms, laundry areas, wet or damp rooms and outdoor use, and say not to leave it running unattended. A timer and safety cutoffs do not cancel those restrictions.

The manuals identify a tip-over switch and thermal-overload protection. If the overload trips, unplug the heater, let it cool for ten minutes, then reconnect it and follow the manual’s reset steps. Unplug before cleaning or moving it. Lasko directs owners to vacuum the intake grilles with a brush every two weeks and not to disassemble the heater. The listed exterior is cool-touch, but that does not turn the hot outlet or nearby clearances into a safe place for bedding, curtains or objects.

Who it fits, and what changes when a requirement is essential

Choose the Artisan when a short floor body, remote, horizontal oscillation and up-to-12-hour shutoff fit your dry-room routine. Its 15.56-inch height passes a 16-inch body cap but fails a strict 15-inch limit; measure the body and clearance envelope separately. An indoor/floor/remote/countdown path can keep it in results. It should fall out for a later scheduled start, app control, fan-only airflow, bathroom use, a numeric sweep-angle minimum or vertical oscillation. Unknown sweep angle and Low wattage stay unknown.

Compare the Lasko CC13700 if hand-adjustable vertical louvers and a shorter console body matter more than a remote: that exact model has a one-to-eight-hour cutoff, no horizontal oscillation and thermostat cycling on High only. The Lasko CT22360 is taller and documents selectable 90°, 170° and 360° horizontal sweep, but its exact manual does not list a shutoff timer. The Artisan occupies a different middle ground—short body, remote, timer and oscillation, with no supported numeric sweep angle. These are documented feature and operating differences, not comparative heat-output or noise test results.
