Comparison
Vornado VH10 vs AVH10: mechanical thermostat or Auto Climate?
The Vornado VH10 and AVH10 have a similar cube profile and 1,500-watt maximum, but their thermostats and airflow options are different. Match the operating control you actually want rather than choosing by appearance alone.
Pick the thermostat behavior first
The VH10 uses a mechanical thermostat. Vornado describes the heater and fan stopping together when the selected setting is reached and restarting as the room cools. It offers High and Low heat, rated at 1,500 and 750 watts. The AVH10's Auto Climate uses a temperature sensor to reduce heater output and fan speed around the target, with both switching off if the room goes three degrees above it. Both allow High and Low, but only the AVH10 has this documented lower-stage automatic control. Neither product page supplies a thermostat accuracy rating; do not mistake a dial or digital reading for laboratory control.
Then decide whether you need fan-only
The AVH10 has a separate Fan Only mode for circulating room air without heat; the VH10 documentation does not list one. Fan-only airflow is not air conditioning. A countdown from eight during AVH10 shutdown is its post-use cooldown, not an eight-hour timer. Vornado's AVH30-only timer instructions should not be applied to either AVH10 or VH10; their reviewed materials do not establish a user timer for later start or auto-off. If a countdown matters, choose an exact model with a documented shutoff timer.
Shared limits
Both are indoor floor heaters with High/Low stages, a 1,500-watt maximum, overheat and tip-over protection, a cool-touch housing and a cord wrap. Vornado's guidance requires attended use and says to turn a portable heater off when leaving the room or sleeping. It also prohibits bathrooms, damp places and near-water use, and directs the heater to a proper wall outlet rather than an extension cord, power strip, multi-outlet adapter, timer or smart plug. These protections and convenience features do not replace a level, clear location or the exact instructions. No numerical clearances or usable body dimensions were established here, so measure the actual unit and check its booklet instead of borrowing another model's figures.
Read the VH10 assessment for the simple mechanical-control case, or read the AVH10 assessment for Auto Climate and fan-only operation. Vornado's product pages call these VH10 and AVH10, but the linked use-and-care covers say VH10+ and AVH10+. Check the model label on your unit against the included instructions. Stock and terms can change; confirm them with the seller.
