Model comparison
DREO Ceramic Heater 314 ALCI vs Atom One vs Heater 320
Three compact DREO heaters can look similar on a product page while solving different constraints. The Ceramic Heater 314 (ALCI Plug) is the DR-HSH004A configuration with a test/reset leakage-current interrupter on its plug. The standard silver Heater Atom One is DR-HSH004/004-G, not the ALCI model. The Heater 320, called Atom 320 in its manual, is DR-HSH020 and adds hand-adjustable vertical aim plus three fan-only speeds. These are comparisons of documented controls and setup, not a measured performance ranking.
Start with the plug and the room
The ALCI is the one conspicuous functional difference on the 314 ALCI: a plug-mounted device with test and reset buttons that cuts power if it detects electrical leakage. DREO's page markets it as safer for bathroom use. Its exact DR-HSH004A manual also says not to use the heater near water, not to splash it, and to keep it away from a bathtub, shower and sink. That is why an ALCI plug should not be treated as a water-safe rating or as proof that a particular bathroom location is approved. A buyer who requires affirmative manual permission for bathroom use should not assume this model passes that requirement.
The standard Atom One's DR-HSH004 manual expressly excludes bathrooms and laundry areas. The Heater 320 manual also limits it to suitable household indoor locations and requires the clear operating space. If a specific room is the reason for shopping, read the exact manual for the exact electrical model before comparing wattages. A plug-protection feature does not cancel the distance-from-water, receptacle or clearance instructions.
Compare how the air is controlled
- Ceramic Heater 314 (ALCI Plug): DREO lists 70-degree horizontal oscillation, ECO temperature control, a remote, a removable rear filter and a Fan Only mode. The DR-HSH004A manual confirms oscillation control and filter care, but does not state a numeric sweep angle or multiple fan-only speeds.
- Standard Heater Atom One: DREO also lists a 70-degree horizontal sweep; its US manual confirms the switchable feature, Fan Only, ECO mode and a removable filter. It has no ALCI plug feature assigned to the reviewed silver DR-HSH004 configuration.
- Heater 320: its manual documents a 0–60-degree manually adjusted vertical outlet and fan-only speeds F1, F2 and F3. Manual tilt is set by hand; the inspected documents do not establish a motorized sweep.
All three make heat with forced air. Fan-only mode moves existing room air and is not cooling. If you want air to move without heat, all three have a separate mode; if you want still-air convection heat, compare the fanless Convection Heater 711 instead. If side-to-side movement is essential, the 320's tilt is not an equivalent feature.
Keep the power-step details tied to the manual
The DR-HSH004A manual lists the 314's three Power Heat steps as 900, 1,000 and 1,500 W. The current DREO page instead calls the middle setting 1,300 W, so that discrepancy should be checked against the unit and its documentation rather than silently resolved from a marketing bullet. The standard Atom One manual lists 1,000/1,200/1,500 W; the 320 manual lists 900/1,300/1,500 W. All are 1,500 W maximum units rated at 120 V, 60 Hz. A maximum-watt figure is not a promise that any chosen room will reach a temperature quickly.
Each manual describes an off countdown, not a delayed start. The 314 and standard Atom One use a 0–12-hour timer and have a separate 24-hour continuous-run shutoff that is disabled by default. The Heater 320's US manual also describes a countdown shutoff. If you need a heater to begin before you enter, don't substitute an auto-off countdown for a documented start schedule. Compare the 314 ALCI review, standard Atom One review and Heater 320 review for their exact manual limits.
Choose the constraint you actually have
Choose the 314 ALCI if the plug's test/reset leakage interrupter is important and your chosen floor location is dry and far enough from water to satisfy its manual. Choose the standard Atom One if horizontal sweep and filter maintenance matter more than that plug feature. Choose the Heater 320 if you want to point the outlet up or down by hand, value three fan-only speeds and will use it where its clearances fit. In every case, keep combustible material at least three feet in front as each exact manual requires, use a direct wall receptacle, and do not let lifestyle images stand in for safe placement instructions.
