Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does a bathroom-marketed ALCI plug make this heater explicitly approved for a wet bathroom location?
No such permission is established. The product page markets bathroom use, but the exact DR-HSH004A manual says never to use it near water and names a bathtub, shower and sink as water sources to keep away from. Do not treat the plug as permission for wet-area placement.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the DR-HSH004A manual document an auto-off countdown or a delayed start?
It documents a 0-12-hour countdown that shuts off a running heater, not a scheduled start. The manual separately describes a 24-hour continuous-run cutoff that is disabled by default.
Explore this need in the finder →Is its 70-degree side-to-side sweep a documented 70-degree setting in the manual?
DREO's US product page lists a 70-degree horizontal sweep and the exact manual confirms oscillation control, but the manual does not print the numeric arc. The 70-degree figure is the manufacturer's listing, not an independently measured room-coverage result.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the DR-HSH004A plug's leakage interrupter be functionally tested and reset?
Yes. Its exact manual identifies TEST and RESET buttons on the ALCI device and instructs users to test it and not remove or bypass it.
Explore this need in the finder →DREO's U.S. collection has a separate listing called Ceramic Heater 314 (ALCI Plug), distinct from the standard silver Heater Atom One reviewed elsewhere. Its observed product ID is 9334274785442; Silver SKU 10-04004-128 and White SKU 10-040041-003 are the two color choices in that same listing. The listing's ALCI description, the plug pictured in both exact variant images, and DREO's separate U.S. DR-HSH004A manual support assessing this as the 314 ALCI configuration. Do not confuse its ALCI plug with the standard DR-HSH004 configuration or the DR-HSH004B motion-sensor version.
The useful difference is the plug, not a different kind of heater
This is still a small PTC ceramic fan heater: a 120 V, 60 Hz, 1,500 W appliance for household indoor use. The manual shows three power-heat levels, ECO temperature regulation and Fan Only mode. It lists H1 at 900 W, H2 at 1,000 W and H3 at 1,500 W. DREO's current product description instead lists H2 at 1,300 W. Because the model-specific manual is the operating instruction, use its 1,000 W middle step as the conservative figure; check the nameplate or current documentation for your exact unit rather than assuming the marketing copy and manual agree.
ECO mode accepts a 41–95°F setpoint; the manufacturer page says one-degree increments. In ECO the heater may stop when the target is reached and start again as the measured room temperature falls. Fan Only is separate from heat, so it circulates room air without heating it; the manual does not establish multiple fan-only speeds. DREO lists a 70-degree side-to-side sweep, while the manual confirms a switchable oscillation function but does not print its angle. Treat 70 degrees as the manufacturer's listing, not a room-coverage guarantee. The 37 dB sound figure and two-second heating claim are also manufacturer claims, not independent measurements.
ALCI protection is not permission to put the heater near water
The plug has TEST and RESET buttons and an appliance-leakage-current interrupter that cuts power when it detects electrical leakage. The DR-HSH004A manual says to test the device, not remove it, and not use the heater if it has been deactivated. That is a meaningful configuration difference from the standard Atom One's plug. It is not a waterproof rating, a splash-proof heater, or permission to put an electric appliance beside a sink, shower or tub.
DREO's product page calls it safer for bathroom use and names bathrooms among possible rooms. The exact manual, however, says never to use it near water, to keep it as far as possible from water sources such as a bathtub, shower and sink, and never to position it where it could fall into water. It does not clearly authorize a wet bathroom zone. I therefore would not shortlist this model for anyone whose essential condition is explicit manual approval for bathroom placement; the ALCI feature cannot resolve that conflict. If considering it for any bathroom at all, follow the manual and local electrical rules, keep it well away from water, and do not treat the plug as a substitute for a safe, dry location. For a room with unavoidable splashes or poor separation from plumbing, choose another solution.
Timer, filter and remote details need a little attention
The manual's timer is a 0–12-hour countdown that turns off a running heater; it does not schedule a future start. A separate 24-hour continuous-run shutoff is off by default. After switching off, the fan runs for about 30 seconds to clear residual heat. Tip-over and overheat cutoffs are documented, but they do not remove the need for stable, unobstructed placement.
The rear dust filter pulls out, can be rinsed under running water, and must dry before it goes back. The manual suggests cleaning every two to four weeks for best performance. Unplug first, turn the heater off and let it cool. The manual identifies a CR2025 3 V cell for the remote, while DREO's product page says two AAA batteries are included. Those details conflict, so verify the supplied remote and its battery compartment rather than buying replacements from the listing copy alone. DREO's page and manual both show a remote; the materials reviewed do not establish phone-app control.
Placement and fit: measure the real room, not the product slogan
Set the heater on a stable, level floor and plug it directly into a wall receptacle. The manual says not to use an extension cord or relocatable power strip. Keep combustible material, drapery and furniture at least three feet from the hot front and away from the sides and rear; the manual does not quantify the latter distances. Do not block the inlet or outlet. DREO describes a “10.3-inch design,” but the inspected U.S. product page gives no full, axis-labeled dimensions or weight. That phrase is not enough to certify a strict height, width, shelf or storage fit.
The filter, remote, thermostat and sweep make sense for someone who wants a movable heater in a dry indoor room and will keep up with filter care. The ALCI plug is the distinction to look for if that specific plug protection matters. For simpler dry-room heat with a documented three-speed fan-only mode and manual vertical tilt, the Heater 320 is a different alternative. For horizontal oscillation without the ALCI feature, compare the standard silver Atom One; its separate manual prohibits bathroom and laundry-room use. None of these compact bodies changes the required clearance around a hot 1,500 W heater.
