Vornado Rise 20H vs VH10 vs VC-02: three floor-heater control styles

Rise 20H, VH10 and VC-02 are all portable floor heaters sold by Vornado, but “whole room” is not the main difference between them. The practical split is how much control you want: a three-stage mechanical tower with a choice of fan behavior, a simpler two-stage heater without a separate fan-only selection, or a remote-equipped model with a timer and more modes.

Start with the way the fan should behave

Rise 20H uses a three-position heat selector and an adjustable mechanical thermostat. Its fan switch has Auto and Continuous behaviors: Auto cycles the fan with the heating element, while Continuous keeps the fan running. The linked guide describes fan use with the thermostat at its lowest setting. These are fan behaviors rather than separate selectable fan speeds. The VH10 is simpler still: its listed heat choices are High and Low, with a thermostat, but its reviewed page and manual do not document a distinct fan-only mode.

The VC-02 moves to digital controls and a remote. It offers Personal and Whole Room modes, with Low, Medium and High in each, plus Fan Only, a one-to-twelve-hour auto-off timer and a listed 70-degree oscillation range. The materials do not identify the swing axis. If horizontal movement is essential, do not assume that the number alone describes the direction.

Match controls to the routine you actually have

Pick Rise 20H if three manual heat levels and a thermostat are useful, and you do not need a handheld remote or a user-set countdown. Its 20.27-inch body is taller than the VC-02’s listed 15-inch height, but its published footprint is narrow at 5.48 inches wide by 8.03 deep. At 6.9 pounds, it has a carry handle; the manual classifies it as a floor unit. Its table lists 750 and 1,500 watts, without mapping either figure to each of its three selector positions.

Pick VH10 when two heat levels and direct mechanical adjustment are enough. Its official product record does not provide dimensions, so measure the actual unit or obtain the exact manual if body fit is a hard condition. Pick VC-02 when the remote, selectable Personal/Whole Room direction, fan-only function, oscillation or automatic shutoff timer will get regular use. More controls do not prove faster room heating, and no listed wattage establishes a guaranteed room size.

Do not confuse convenience or safety with permission

None of these models should be selected for bathroom or near-water use, and a timer, thermostat or automatic safety cutoff is not approval for leaving a portable heater unattended. Vornado’s heater guidance calls for direct wall-outlet use and rules out extension cords, power strips, adapters, external timers and smart plugs. Follow the full instructions for the exact unit, keep airflow unobstructed and attend the heater while it runs.

Check the label on the exact documents

The current Rise 20H page identifies SKU EH1-0229-06, but the two PDFs linked from it say RISE 20H+. The VC-02 retail listing has a similar VC-02 versus VC-02+ document-label difference; the VH10 page also has a suffix difference in its linked guide. The documented controls can be compared, but the manufacturer does not explain these label additions. If a model-specific instruction or a production revision matters, ask Vornado to confirm the correct guide from the rating label rather than treating a matching product name as proof of exact revision.
