Lasko model comparisons
Bathroom heater choice: Lasko CD08200 vs AR122 vs 6050
Choosing a heater for a bathroom is not just a matter of finding “bathroom” in a product title. The exact manual has to allow the room, and its electrical, water and placement conditions still govern. Lasko’s CD08200 is explicitly described for bathroom use, but its manual requires a GFCI outlet and separately says never to use it near water. It does not state a numeric distance from a sink, tub or shower.
Read the room restriction before comparing wattage
The CD08200’s U.S. product page identifies one white configuration, model and SKU CD08200. Its linked bilingual manual names the same model. For bathroom use, the manual requires a direct 120-volt wall connection through a GFCI receptacle. It also says that, despite the plug-mounted ALCI device, the heater should never be used near water. Lasko does not define a measurable water clearance. ALCI and GFCI are not interchangeable descriptions, and the ALCI does not turn this into a water-resistant appliance.
This distinction matters in a small bathroom: the shortest route between a wall outlet and the person who wants warmth may run close to a sink, tub or shower. Do not assume that the manual’s bathroom allowance means any bathroom position is acceptable. If you cannot keep the heater away from water while meeting the manual’s front and side clearances, do not use that proposed arrangement. The instructions do not authorize extension cords to reach a more distant spot.
Three exact Lasko configurations, three different jobs
| Model | What its sources support | What not to infer |
|---|---|---|
| CD08200, white | Compact ceramic heater; two heat settings; one-hour High step; ALCI plug; manufacturer page expressly describes bathroom use; 120 V; 3-year limited warranty. | Not waterproof; manual says never near water and requires GFCI for bathroom use. No exact water-distance number, thermostat, remote, app, oscillation or unattended operation. |
| AR122, black | 22-inch ceramic tower; three heat settings, app control and Auto Eco behavior in its reviewed configuration. | Its exact instructions do not approve bathroom use. Do not transfer CD08200’s room permission or ALCI feature to the AR122. |
| 6050, black | Wider ceramic console; two documented heater wattage steps and a seven-hour auto-off countdown for the reviewed model. | Its manual is for dry indoor operation, not bathroom placement. Do not confuse its longer timer or airflow direction with CD08200’s bathroom-specific page claim. |
The models share a 1,500-watt maximum on their product information, but that number does not establish that they are interchangeable. Their room rules, dimensions and controls differ. Check your intended location and routine first; use heat-level count, timer or app preference only after the manual leaves a workable arrangement.
What the CD08200’s simple control does
The manual’s button cycles through one hour of High, steady High, Low and Off. The timer applies only to the initial High setting, and the manual cautions against unattended operation. It is not a delayed start, a thermostat or permission to leave the unit on while away. The product page lists 900–1,500 watts overall and the manual identifies High as 1,500 watts; Low wattage is not assigned in the reviewed sources.
At 8 by 6.25 by 6.25 inches, it has a small body, but the manual calls for a firm, flat, level surface and clear air openings. From combustibles, keep three feet clear in front and one foot at the sides and rear. That is a material clearance, not a substitute for the manual’s separate warning to keep the heater away from water. The instructions also prohibit extension leads, power strips, surge protectors, multiple outlet adapters and sharing the outlet or circuit with other devices.
A practical decision sequence
- Choose a location the exact model manual permits. For CD08200 in a bathroom, verify the required GFCI receptacle and do not position the unit near water; no numeric distance is published.
- Check the whole operating footprint—not only the eight-inch body—against the manual’s combustible clearances, stable-surface direction and cord route.
- Plan to remain present. Do not use a countdown as a substitute for supervision, and do not leave children unattended with the heater on or plugged in.
- Only then compare heat levels, outlet type, app or remote control, timer length and maintenance. For CD08200, unplug it before care and vacuum the intake grille every two weeks as directed.
Use the finder to compare supported placement and control requirements, but a match is not a waiver of setup instructions. If bathroom placement is essential and the CD08200’s GFCI and away-from-water conditions cannot be followed, do not force an indoor-only alternative into that room; confirm a safer appropriate arrangement using its own instructions. Start with the CD08200 manual for the final conditions.
