Vornado VC-02 vs Velocity Cube 5 OSC: modes, filters and fit

These current Vornado listings look like related compact ceramic heaters, but choose between them by mode, body height and maintenance rather than treating the shared “Velocity” name as proof they are the same product.

VC-02: more ways to aim the routine

The black VC-02 listing offers Personal and Whole Room heat modes, three selectable heat levels in each mode, a separate Fan Only selection, 70-degree oscillation, a digital thermostat, remote and a one-to-twelve-hour auto-off timer. It stands 15 inches high. Its two reusable pre-filters add a cleaning step, but also make dust maintenance more explicit: unplug the heater, vacuum the filters and inlet area, and reinstall the filters before use. Its spec table lists both 700 and 1,500 watts without mapping every mode to a wattage.

Velocity Cube 5 OSC: shorter, fewer heat levels

The Ice White Velocity Cube 5 OSC listing is 10.42 inches tall and lists Low, Medium and High, Fan Only, Auto Climate, 70-degree oscillation, remote and a 1–12-hour shutdown timer. Its page describes Auto Climate adjustments to fan speed, but does not say whether the heating element steps down automatically. If the shorter cube fits a shelf-height or storage limit better, it is the more compact of these two; do not assume its oscillation axis from the angle alone.

What neither listing settles

Both models are listed at up to 1,500 watts and both manuals linked from their exact pages add a plus suffix: VC-02+ and Velocity Cube 5 OSC+. Vornado does not explain those label differences. We keep each retail identity and manual wording separate rather than declaring a revision equivalence. The 70-degree claim is numeric, but neither reviewed guide names its axis. Neither model has an independent room-heating or noise test in the materials reviewed here, and neither creates permission to operate a portable heater unattended or in a wet location. If a specific swing direction, manual revision, clearance or low-stage behavior is an essential requirement, confirm that point with Vornado before choosing.
