Setup and safety
Set up and use the DREO Oil-filled Radiator 153
The DREO Oil-filled Radiator 153 is a wheeled, fanless household heater, but its setup is not plug-and-go. Its exact U.S. manual (model DR-HSH033) explains the sequence: assemble the casters, place the heater upright with full clearance, connect it directly to a wall receptacle and supervise the first heat cycle. Read the instructions for the specific unit before operating it.
Fit and assemble the wheels first
DREO lists the body at 26.14 inches high, 9.92 inches wide and 12.83 inches deep; the heater weighs 17.9 pounds. The body measurements are not the complete operating footprint, because the caster base extends beyond the fins. Fit the caster assemblies according to the manual before use and confirm that the unit stands upright on a level, stable surface. Choose a position where it will not obstruct a doorway or become a trip hazard. The manual says to unplug and let the heater cool before moving it by the front handle.
Plan its operating space
Keep the manual's three-foot front clearance from combustible items and keep the sides and rear clear. The sides and rear get hot, so do not touch them during operation. Do not block air openings, cover the heater, place it on a soft surface or tuck the cord under a rug. Use a direct wall receptacle—not a power strip or extension cord. The manual is for household use indoors; it prohibits bathrooms, laundry rooms and similar locations as well as outdoor operation.
Expect a warm-up odor on first use
The DR-HSH033 instructions say to run the heater on its highest setting for at least two hours in a ventilated room on its first use to burn off manufacturing residue. Do this before relying on it for a regular routine. Keep the clearance in place and remain attentive. The unit has tip-over and overheat protection, but those safeguards are not a substitute for correct positioning and supervision.
Learn the knobs—and the limits
The heat knob selects H1 (600 W), H2 (900 W) or H3 (1,500 W); the thermostat knob selects the operating point, and the indicator lights show power and heat. The thermostat may cycle the element as room temperature changes. There is no timer for a scheduled start in this manual, so this model cannot preheat on a countdown. It also has no fan-only mode, remote or app function established in the examined U.S. package and documentation. If those are essential, compare the separate Convection Heater 711, whose manual documents a countdown on/off timer, or select a fan heater for independent airflow.
Clean only when unplugged and cool
Unplug the radiator and allow it to cool before cleaning. The manual calls for a dry soft cloth and warns against water or other liquids, chemical cleaners, abrasive materials and immersion. Do not remove covers or attempt an internal repair; contact authorized service if repair is needed. Store and operate the appliance according to the full manual, and recheck the cord and base before each season.
