Lasko model comparisons
Lasko DUO Comfort FHV820 vs FHV830: AC or DC tower fan?
The Lasko DUO Comfort FHV820 and FHV830 combine ceramic heat with a separate fan-only function in 38-inch towers. They share the same newly linked instruction manual, remote and core heat/fan controls, but the exact product pages identify different fan-motor types and do not provide the same movement or coverage details. Choose from what is documented, not from assumptions about AC versus DC.

Motor type is not a performance test
The titles identify FHV820 as AC and FHV830 as DC; the FHV830 page also calls its motor WhisperForce. The pages offer no controlled side-by-side noise, energy-use or heat-delivery measurement. A motor label alone does not establish that either unit is quieter, cheaper to run or better at warming a particular room. FHV820 does have a manufacturer-listed 60-degree horizontal swing; FHV830's exact page does not give a number. If a numerical sweep is an essential filter, the FHV830's angle remains unknown here.
Both products offer a fan-only mode, four fan speeds, three heat levels, Auto Eco, a physical remote and an eight-hour auto-off countdown. A separate fan-only mode moves existing room air rather than cooling it. The manual's Auto Eco description is High below the selected temperature, Low at the target, then heater-element off after the sensed temperature rises two degrees above it; the fan continues for 15 seconds. That is the maker's stated sequence, not a measured accuracy result.
Read the room-size and safety details carefully
Lasko lists maximum coverage of 150 square feet for the FHV820 and 300 for FHV830. Those are manufacturer-stated claims, not independent heating tests. Room insulation, outdoor temperature, ceiling height, layout and heater position all change what supplemental heat feels like; do not infer that a 300-square-foot room is assured to reach a particular temperature.
The product pages list both as 120-volt models with an output range topping at 1,500 watts. The shared manual instructs you to plug directly into a wall receptacle, not an extension cord, power strip, surge protector or adapter, and not to share the outlet/circuit with another device. Use a stable, level floor, keep three feet clear at the front and one foot from each side and rear, avoid bathrooms and wet or damp locations, and do not leave the heater running unattended. The auto-off timer does not change that rule.
Which one fits your requirements?
- Favor the FHV820 if you specifically want White or a manufacturer-published 60-degree horizontal sweep value.
- Consider the FHV830 if Black or the named DC fan-motor type matters to you; do not treat DC or “WhisperForce” as proof of lower sound or energy use.
- Either can suit a floor-tower need for separate fan-only airflow, three heat levels, a remote and a shutoff countdown no longer than eight hours.
- Neither fits if you need a delayed start, app control, bathroom permission, unattended operation or a body height below 30 inches.
Read the FHV820 assessment and FHV830 assessment for exact-model limits, then consult the manual covering both models. Check that the retailer listing and finish match the SKU before ordering; the white FHV820 image is linked at the one-SKU product-row level, while the FHV830 image is directly linked to its Black variant.
